The Elipse Balloon is a fully supported weight loss journey, not just a temporary solution.

What is the Elipse Balloon?

The Elipse Balloon is a soft balloon placed in your stomach. It is the first gastric balloon that requires no surgery, endoscopy, or anaesthesia for placement or removal.

The balloon is placed during a short 20-minute appointment visit. After approximately 16 weeks, the balloon empties and passes naturally.

How does the Elipse Balloon work?

The balloon takes up space in your stomach and stimulates weight loss by increasing the feeling of fullness. This means that you are more likely to lower your food intake throughout the day.

How much weight can I lose with the Elipse Balloon?

The Elipse Program is a 6-month lifestyle course customised just for you so results may differ. Following 16 weeks of the Elipse Program, patients lose an average of 10 to 15% of their total body weight with help from a dietician and a health tracker linked to the Allurion app.

Meaningful Long-Lasting Results

What happens on treatment day?

You simply swallow a small capsule containing the deflated balloon, attached to a thin tube. Once the balloon has reached your stomach, Dr Stephen Watson will conduct an X-ray examination to check the placement. The balloon is then filled with 550ml of water through the catheter. A second X-ray is then carried out to check that the balloon is filled. The entire process takes no more than 20 minutes during an appointment.

Are there any side-effects from the Elipse Balloon?

Some patients may feel nausea, mild abdominal pain, and vomiting in rare cases after balloon placement. More often than not, these side effects are manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.

How is the Elipse Balloon removed?

Following 16 weeks of treatment time, a release valve will open, allowing the balloon to empty and pass naturally through your gastrointestinal tract without the need for a removal procedure. However, in extremely rare cases the empty balloon may be vomited which is nothing to be concerned about.
